Thailand’s international minister says he met Myanmar’s Suu Kyi in first assembly with international envoys since 2021 coup

JAKARTA — Thailand’s international minister Don Pramudwinai met deposed Myanmar democracy chief Aung San Suu Kyi final week, he advised reporters Wednesday, her first recognized assembly with a international envoy since she was detained after a 2021 coup.

“There was a gathering, she was in good well being, and it was an excellent assembly,” Don advised reporters on the sidelines of a gathering of Southeast Asian international ministers in Indonesia’s capital Jakarta.

Ms Suu Kyi has been imprisoned because the February 1, 2021 coup that ended Myanmar’s temporary democratic experiment and plunged the Southeast Asian nation into bloody turmoil.

The Nobel laureate, 78, was later hit with a collection of expenses and sentenced by a junta courtroom to a complete of 33 years in jail in trials that rights teams dismissed as a sham.

Mr Don confirmed he had met Ms Suu Kyi on Sunday and stated she had referred to as for renewed talks to finish the disaster.
