A woman who married the love of her life has experienced her greatest joy and her greatest sorrow in less than an hour.

Johnnie Mae Dennis married Toraze Dennis in June at a small church in Omaha, Nebraska.

“Both Johnnie Mae and Toraze planned to spend the rest of their lives together,” said Johnnie Mae’s friend Monica Miller.

“Unfortunately, Toraze breathed his last shortly after saying ‘I do’.” Toraze, 48, suffered a blood clot shortly after the couple exchanged vows in church. The party turned into a chaotic scene as the newlyweds stepped outside to take photos.

“His heart stopped at 4:35, just an hour after the ceremony had started. It happened in a matter of seconds,” said Johnnie Mae’s friend Jeëel Robertson.

“The bride was married and widowed in the space of 10 minutes,” said Robertson.

Johnnie Mae had been looking forward to their wedding day on Monday, which was also her grandmother’s birthday. She was also looking forward to a happy day as she recently lost her father.

The ‘beautiful ceremony’ was attended by the couple’s children, parents, family and friends.
