The day to remember Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan and Indian Illegal Occupation
July 19 is observed every year as Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan Day by Kashmiris living on both sides of LoC and other parts of the world with the renewal of pledge to continue ongoing indigenous struggle for freedom of IIOJK from Indian subjugation and to translate the idea of accession of entire J&K state to Pakistan into reality, under the spirit of historic resolution passed on July 19, 1947.
On this very day in 1947, a historical resolution was adopted by All J&K Muslim Conference in Abi Guzar, Srinagar during an emergency convention at the residence of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan. It was presided over by Chaudhry Hamid Ullah Khan, and the resolution was presented by Khawaja Ghulam-ud-Din Wani and Abdul Rahim Wani, with 59 prominent leaders in attendance.
The resolution was unanimously adopted indicating that existing religious, geographical, cultural, economic ties and aspirations of millions of Kashmiri Muslims warrant accession of the state of J&K with Pakistan. During partition of Sub-continent, people of state of J&K which comprised majority Muslims decided to join Pakistan, according to British-led formula but, Dogra Maharaja, Hari Singh, a Hindu, who was ruling over J&K in connivance with Jawaharlal Nehru and Lord Mountbatten sided the state to India.
The people of J&K launched the struggle under the spirit of a/m resolution for the liberation of their motherland from the yoke of Dogra rule and later from unlawful and forcible hold of Indian imperialism. This freedom struggle continues even today after seven decades with full vigor.
The tragedy for Kashmiris started, when they were denied their genuine right of self-determination promised in UNSCRs. Despite a lapse of seven decades, Kashmiris are still struggling / sacrificing to achieve their alienability right under UNSCRs. Kashmir Valley is one of the most heavily militarized regions in the world, with more than 900,000 Indian Armed Forces personnel who are perpetrating various forms of state terrorism on innocent Kashmiris.
Since 1989, a deliberate campaign by Intelligence Agencies & Indian Security Forces has been manifested in brutal tactics such as crackdowns, curfews, illegal detentions, massacres, target killings, sieges, arson, torture, enforced disappearances, rape, molestation of Muslim women and killings through fake encounters.
India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, India has virtually turned IIOJK into a military garrison where people have been deprived of their fundamental human rights. Abrogating Article 370 was a blatant negation and unjust replacement for UN-administered plebiscite and one of the first cunning moves by India to betray the Kashmiris and usurp the Himalayan territory. Since 5 August 2019, Indian occupation forces have killed 639 innocent Kashmiris in extra-judicial murders.
In a recent malicious attempt violating all the UN resolutions on Kashmir India is planning to hold a G20 meeting in IIOJK which is a disputed territory while disregarding the various UNSC resolutions on IIOJK. Through such a controversial proposal, India is tricking to seek international legitimacy for an illegal and tyrannical occupation continuing for over seven decades. India’s plan to hold a G20 meeting in IIOJK violates the UNSC Resolution of 1948 that mandates a plebiscite in the disputed territory. India must abstain from taking such actions and the international community must speak up for the rights of Kashmiris. This malicious attempt to hold an international level meeting in a disputed territory should be stopped and the G20 countries oppose this step as it is against the norms of International law. Instead of giving rights to the people of Kashmir as per the UNSC resolutions the flout Indian establishment is trying to contravene the International law.
