Whose Death Squad is After Sikh Leaders?
The Sikh community around the world is actively working for Sikh rights in India. Since independence in 1947, the Sikh community has been targeted by the Indian establishment that led to the freedom struggle like the Khalistan movement. Operation Blue Star is one example of Sikh massacre in India in which more than 5000 Sikhs were killed by the Indian establishment and around 18000 to 20000 Sikh casualties occurred in the following two months. The fascist Indian ideology derived from the Kautilyan doctrine of Vinaash (destruction) set the impetus for extremism against the minorities.
The Kautilyan doctrine focuses on the struggle of Hindu supremacy around the globe and destroying anything that comes in the path. Sikh minority has remained a pain point for fascist Hindu leaders who want their monopoly in the Hindu state. As a response, the Sikh community decided to fight for their rights. Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) central leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu announced a referendum on Jan 26, 2023, in Indian Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh for a separate state of Khalistan in Indian Punjab while Shimla will be its capital. “The referendum seeks to liberate Punjab from India. On June 6, 1984, the Indira Gandhi government attacked Darbar Sahib and killed Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his followers,” he said.
Mr Pannu said the first attack on Darbar Sahib was conducted in 1955 and it resulted in the formation of Khalistan. “All the areas of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttar Ghund where Sikhs were present would be part of Khalistan,” he added. According to him 27 million Sikhs are eligible to vote in the referendum. Considering this potential of Sikh community, the Indian government under the fascist Modi regime has started a crackdown against them.
Recently, the famous Indian Singer Sidhu Moosewala was brutally murdered because he was a pro-Khalistan voice. Another famous Sikh leader chanting the slogans of Khalistan movement has been Ripudaman Singh was also killed by the death squad of Indian intelligence agency RAW. Ripudaman was indicted for 1985 Air India bombing case but later acquitted after being proven not guilty. He was framed due to his pro-Khalistan sentiments and since then the Indian Intelligence agencies were trying to eliminate him due to his growing popularity. Ripudaman’s diligence for the freedom of Sikh community in India was a thorn in the flesh for India. Canada’s former top cop declared the killing of Ripudaman Malik as a professional hit that is a hallmark of the Research and Analysis Wing. The world must speak up against the vicious persecution of Sikh leaders by Indian Intelligence agencies and justice should prevail in protecting minorities in and outside India.
