The Diego Armando Maradona stadium had more than 8,000 people this holiday Thursday and, from the stands, the typical pitch chants were heard, but in support of the Africans. Watch the videos.
None of the almost 50 protagonists of the match, between players and coaching staff, must have understood nothing. The more than 8,000 people who came to the Diego Armando Maradona de La Plata stadium to experience Tunisia’s 3-0 win over Iraq on the second date of Group E of the Under 20 World Cup gave it an unexpected setting, which included the typical Argentine court songs, with their lyrics modified to encourage Africans.
It was a varied repertoire, but it served for those who braved the rain to have fun as if they were in any match of the Professional League or the Argentine promotion: the “Tunisia, my good friend…” sounded that usually accompanies the outings of the teams; when the game was boring – most of the time, it must be said – what came down from the stands of the La Plata stadium was a “let’s see if they lay eggs, they don’t play with anyone…”; and even a “Move, Iraq, move…” slipped in.
Tunisia, with a flurry of high-flying football at the beginning of the second half, got just the right difference to claim an important victory, thanks to goals from Youssef Snana -with a nice definition of a cue-, Chaim El Djebali and Mahmoud Ghorbel , penalty kick.
The victory allows them to maintain the hope of qualifying for the round of 16, despite the fact that they suffered the expulsion of Rayan Nasraoui, after the VAR check of the Colombian referee Jhon Alexander Ospina Londoño.
With this result, Tunisia went on to have three units, the same as Uruguay, and three below the leader in the area, England; Iraq has no points yet.
On the third and final date, Iraq will play against England and Tunisia will face Uruguay.
