A woman won the $2 million prize in a Florida Lottery drawing on Friday, April 7, but that was not the best news she received that week.

Geraldine Gimblet, a Lakeland resident, received this million-dollar surprise just one day after her daughter completed her cancer treatment.

According to information from the Florida Lottery, the woman purchased the winning ticket at a Pipkin Road Beverage Castle without imagining that her luck would change at any moment.

“At first the gas station attendant thought there were no tickets left, but I asked him to double check because I like crossword puzzles better. He found the last one!” Gimblet told a local newspaper.

However, that was not the only positive news that Geraldine Gimblet received during the week, since her daughter beat the cancer that had plagued her for years just one day before this unusual event.

“The day before my mom bought this ticket, I rang the bell and left the hospital after completing my last treatment for breast cancer,” revealed the daughter of the lucky lottery winner.

Additionally, Geraldine Gimblet’s daughter indicated that her mother had spent her life savings to care for her while she was sick, so the Florida Lottery prize was a fitting reward for her actions.
