A video circulates on social networks of the moment in which a fight was recorded between the occupants of a truck and agents of the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) of Fraijanes, Guatemala, on Monday, April 17.
The incident occurred at kilometer 19 of the route to El Salvador, where, according to the video, the truck driver was attacked by one of the agents.
In the images it can be seen that the driver also acted violently against the uniformed officers and was apparently supported by people who accompanied him.
Given this, the Municipality of Fraijanes published a video on Facebook that shows how the incident began to be recorded from the beginning.
In its publication, the commune indicated that the incident involving Fraijanes PMT agents and occupants of a vehicle is public knowledge.
“We clarify that we are not in favor of violence, but neither are we in favor of defamation and attacks against traffic agents, we disclose the chronology of the events based on the recordings of the cameras of the place,” he added.
He explained that according to the video he shared, it is seen when meters before the occupants of the truck who were in a drunken state staged a traffic accident and tried to flee.
Then, the other affected vehicle gave chase and the pilot called for help; In addition, he placed himself in front of the truck so that it would not continue the march.
Given this, the agents responded to help the affected person and tried to stop the truck that caused problems on the road for other drivers.
At the moment of being caught, according to the images from the municipal surveillance cameras, it is observed when the vehicle tries to flee once again, despite the fact that there was an agent and two vehicles in front that prevented it from moving forward.
By not allowing him to leave, the occupants were asked for their identification documents, but they descended directly to attack the traffic agents.
This caused the fight and “unfortunately one of them -agents- after being attacked loses control and confronts them.”

The commune added that the individuals tried to flee again, but they were detained meters later where they were given the respective breathalyzer tests, which were positive for a high level of alcohol, for which they were not allowed to continue on their way because they were an imminent danger to their lives. own lives and for road users to El Salvador.
“We deeply regret the acts of violence that occurred in the attempt to support a person in an emergency situation and we are evaluating the administrative sanctions that will be applied, since both the crew members of the truck in a state of intoxication and the agents were they will apply the sanctions that the case warrants”, affirmed the municipality.
Gerson Lucas, commune spokesman, reported that the PMT did not impose fines in the end, because the National Civil Police stayed with the procedure.
