At least two people were killed and 34 injured after a passenger train derailed and overturned in eastern Tunisia.
The accident happened shortly after midnight, about 150 kilometers from the capital. The victims of the accident were the driver and a passenger, while the health condition of the injured is not yet known.
“The two victims have been transferred to the morgue in the hospital of the area, while some of the injured are receiving treatment in the emergency departments of the health centers”, said Nabil Ferjani-Governor of the region.
The authorities announced that an investigation has been launched to understand the real cause of the train derailment.
This accident is not unknown to Tunisia, as the country has often been affected by railway accidents, which have also resulted in casualties.
