Accused of different crimes, such as in “The Secret in Their Eyes”, they fell into the City when they tried to enter soccer stadiums to see their teams.

“The guy can change everything. His face, his home, his family, his girlfriend, his religion, his God… But there is one thing he cannot change: he cannot change his passion.”

The scene was immortalized in the film “El secreto de sus ojos”, winner of the Oscar in 2010, where the lucid judicial employee Pablo Sandoval (played by Guillermo Francella) explained to the investigator Benjamín Esposito (Ricardo Darín) how to catch the murderer who they had sought so much after committing a crime 25 years earlier.

This passion for the colors of the shirt was the one that made 44 fugitives fall in the last year only in the City of Buenos Aires, 20 of them so far in 2023.

One of the most recent cases was recorded in the Copa Libertadores match that River Plate played against Fluminense from Brazil, last Wednesday.

Ramón OF (33) from Salta was one of the more than 85,000 spectators who arrived at the Monumental. He tried to enter through Figueroa Alcorta and Udaondo, but when they verified his ID number, it was found that he had a valid arrest warrant for “minor injuries” to the detriment of a 50-year-old woman. He was detained at the 13 A Neighborhood Police Station, awaiting the decision of the Salta Justice.

These operations are organized by the Football Safety Committee and the City Police, through the Safe Tribune program.

These are controls through the Information System for Security in Soccer Shows (SISEF) to catch fugitives who are wanted by Argentine and international Justice.

Interpol also uses this theme to instruct its agents, who are looking for fugitives all over the world.

In this way, with the support of operators from the Undersecretariat for Citizen Security, they managed to capture 44 criminals.

The last to fall was a 25-year-old who was a fugitive from Jujuy Justice for a case of rape of a minor. They arrested him at the entrance to the Barracas Central stadium, for last Friday’s match against Rosario Central, for the Professional League.

“So far this year, these controls at sporting events have made it possible to find 20 criminals who were wanted for homicides, sexual abuse, threats, drug trafficking and robberies, among others,” said the Minister of Justice and Security of the City, Eugenio Burzaco.

The agents verify the DNI of the spectators to verify if they are wanted by the Justice.

The official remarked that “these controls make it possible to detect people who are prevented from entering the stadiums, many of them for generating violent acts, thus making sporting events safe places for our families.”

The operations were carried out in AFA, Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana tournaments in the last year.

As officially reported, the entry of 3,500,000 supporters was supervised in the 328 football matches during 2023 in the City.

In total, the entry of some 1,700 people who were included in the database of the Secure Tribune System was prevented, as a result of different contraventions and offenses carried out in the context of sporting events, such as using false cards or in the name of another person or the use of of pyrotechnics.
