Synthetic drugs: how the other drug trafficking business works in Rosario

In Rosario narco practically everything works by zones and territories. Depending on the streets where you want to sell cocaine or marijuana, the dealer must pay a fee to the owner of the neighborhood: they can be Los Monos (south zone), the Clan Alvarado (north and west zone) or some smaller groups. The other option is to receive the drugs from these gangs on consignment, sell and pay. Whoever refuses will receive a first warning: a shooting in front of his house.

In the jargon, the former are called “subscribers”. While “so-and-so sells for me” is said to refer to those who prefer the other option.

But in Rosario there is another drug market that escapes the logic imposed by the gangs. It is that of synthetic drugs. “It’s like the drug dealers of ecstasy pills are from another environment that they (because of Los Monos and the Alvarado Clan) do not reach. They move in the neighborhoods with high purchasing power in the city. It’s like they are not convinced to extort them” , says a person who knows the day to day of the drug phenomenon in the city.

The high season for electronic music parties begins in November, with the heat. Added to the fixed agenda of the clubs, which starts on Thursdays and closes at dawn on Monday, are the events on yachts and inns on the island, plus the big festivals, in which international DJs perform and young people from cities attend. bordering.

But the parties continue. In the early hours of Thursday, May 25, during the Israeli DJ Guy J’s show at Salón Metropolitano, a 19-year-old from Cordoba broke down and died. Until now, the causes of his death are being investigated.
