A 95-year-old man was beaten to death in Chaco by two thieves who broke into his house at dawn to rob him, leaving with only a fan and a bottle.

The brutal crime occurred at 800 Alvear Street when two attackers entered the home of a man identified as Antonio Díaz. There they tied him up and started beating him.

After robbing him, they drove away on board a motorcycle with only the fan and the bottle. There they were seen by the police, who began to follow them. According to Diario Chaco, the thieves threw away the loot and fled.

“This person lived alone. To do this, the people who entered broke the door and used violence against the man, who was looking for items to steal,” the prosecutor in charge of the case, Víctor Recio, told the media.

And he added: “The police become aware because they see two people on a motorcycle with a fan leaving the place. When people on the sidewalk in Villa Ercilia get to these places, they lose sight of them.

When they lost sight of the thieves, they returned to the house and found that the man had died. “An investigation into the surveillance cameras has already been carried out. We estimate that there are only two people who have done this, there is nothing yet that allows us to talk about planning,” he said.

“He had hits. They took advantage of the man’s age and the impossibility of defending themselves. He is an old resident of the neighborhood. He lived alone and every day at different times of the day a relative came by to see how he was doing,” added the prosecutor, who confirmed that there were no other valuables in the house.

The case is classified as “alleged murder in the course of a robbery.”
