Freddy Báez, 37, was going to be released next November, after serving 15 years of his sentence.

A prisoner from the Eldorado Penal Unit, Misiones, who was serving a sentence for a double homicide, did not return from his temporary releases, for which the Justice ordered his immediate arrest.

Freddy Báez, 37, was going to be released next November, after serving 15 years in prison for killing a retired couple.

The man left the prison on Saturday at 7 a.m. and his return was set for 7 p.m. As he did not return within the established timetable, the prison officers went to look for him at his address, which he had set in the El Progreso neighborhood, in the town of Puerto Esperanza, but they could not find him and his relatives said they had not heard from him.

Freddy Báez was convicted of killing a couple who had settled in Puerto Esperanza.

It is not the first time that the murderer fails to comply with the rules established by Justice for his process of social reintegration. In 2018, when he had served two thirds of his sentence, he was granted parole, after he decided to settle in the city of Puerto Rico and his partner was listed as guarantor of his good behavior.

However, shortly after, he moved to Puerto Esperanza without notifying the judicial and prison authorities.

In addition, in December 2018, the woman denounced him for gender violence. Báez lost all benefits and it was determined that he had to serve the entire sentence to get out.

His good behavior in the Penal Unit opened the door for brief temporary outings. And this weekend he once again failed to comply with the established rules.

Báez ended up convicted of a double homicide that he committed in August 2008 in the San Blas neighborhood, in the town of Puerto Esperanza.

Along with Enrique Arístides Núñez, they murdered María Ester Toloza (52) and Luis Crisóstomo Espínola (74), who were natives of Chubut and had bought a house in Misiones, perhaps looking for a more benign climate.

Freddy Báez was convicted of killing a couple who had settled in Puerto Esperanza.

The two young men carried out some repairs and painting work in the house, but when it came time to collect, they would have asked the woman for more than the agreed payment. That led to discussions, according to the testimony of the neighbors.

The workers left obfuscated. The Justice determined that on the night of August 18 both returned and entered the property, surprising the couple while they were resting.

The woman had signs of having been tortured before receiving the 17 stab wounds that ended her life. Espíndola, meanwhile, was strangled with a belt and literally slit his throat.

As the furniture purchase invoices were still in the house, the Police established that the murderers took several things.

A day later, Báez was arrested when he was boarding a bus to travel to Buenos Aires. His accomplice fell two days later, when he was going to his parents’ house.

For Justice it became clear that they were the ones who ended the life of the couple and the Eldorado Criminal Court sentenced them to 15 years in prison.
