The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) made the measure official this Wednesday in the Official Gazette.

The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) on Wednesday prohibited the preparation and marketing of a Sardinian cheese that was labeled as gluten-free without having the corresponding authorization, for which it was considered “illegal”.

The measure was made official through Provision 3404/2023, which was published in the latest edition of the Official Gazette and was signed by Manuel Limeres, head of ANMAT.

It is specific, the product in question is the “Santa Rita brand Argentine Sardinian Cheese – Distributed by J. Serrat – Dept. Chilcas – Victoria – Entre Ríos”. It had the symbol “Without TACC”, in reference to the fact that it was a food free of wheat, oats, barley and rye. In addition, the RNE (National Registry of Establishment) and National Registry of Food Products (RNPA) numbers had been removed. Therefore, it was falsely labeled and illegal.

The investigation began as a result of a notification from the Santa Fe Food Safety Agency (ASSAl), which warned that this cheese did not have current food regulations. Then, he took official samples of the product marketed in the town of Capitán Bermúdez, in Rosario, Santa Fe.

Then, it sought information in this regard through the Federal Information System for Food Control Management (SIFeGA) and found that the TNE and RNPA had been deregistered in 2016. Therefore, this product was not registered in the database as Gluten Free Food.

To protect the health of citizens, and in particular of the celiac population, “INAL’s Department of Food Regulations Governance recommends prohibiting its preparation, fractionation and commercialization throughout the national territory.”

ANMAT prohibited the sale of various cosmetic products

Through Provision 3403/2023, the ANMAT on Wednesday prohibited the production and sale of various lip balms of the Dots by Skinpurity brand, given that they were produced in an unauthorized establishment.
