“With the Excellence Award, we seek to encourage the construction sector to develop excellence in design with each project and build better cities, where urbanism promotes people’s quality of life through the efficient performance of their daily activities, so that we can have a dignified, healthy and respectful life for the environment,” said José Fernando Orellana, executive director of the Guatemalan Chamber of Construction.
Each of the 65 works that participated in the contest is characterized by being at the forefront of trends that include creativity and technology; uses new construction products seeking perfection, efficiency and sustained value, as well as encompassing a set of good practices that promote innovation and sustainability; and that have been built between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021 and that have not participated in previous editions of the contest.
The qualifying jury was made up of 37 construction professionals, including engineers, architects and designers. The aspects that were taken into account to evaluate each project were: architectural, constructive, social, innovation and environmental; where each one of them had criteria that were being evaluated one by one by each jury assigned to each category.
