A shipment of almost one and a half tons of marijuana was intercepted and kidnapped this Saturday by the Argentine Naval Prefecture, in an operation deployed in the city of Puerto Rico, in Misiones.
As officially reported, personnel from the force who were at a border surveillance post detected that a boat was trying to cross across the Paraguayan coast and that it was carrying suspicious packages.
Upon reaching Argentine soil, the crew members of the boat unloaded the packages and began the return trip. It was there that the Prefecture acted, with the participation of the border coast guard GC-198 Toba.
The operation made it possible to find 43 packages with 1,987 loaves of marijuana nearby, in an area known as Puerto Mil Hectareas, with a total weight of 1,440 kilograms and a value of more than 67 million pesos.

The Federal Prosecutor of Oberá intervened in the event, which was left in charge of Dr. Viviana Alejandra Vallejos, from the Secretary of Dr. Arlindo Otto Kurtz.
Another 3,800 kilos of marijuana seized in Misiones
At the end of March, the Gendarmerie seized in Misiones more than 3,800 kilos of marijuana that were hidden under wooden posts in the trailer of a truck.
It was at a road control in the town of Santa Ana when the vehicle was stopped as part of a prevention operation.
Members of the Grupo Vial “Jardín América” dependent on Squadron 11 “San Ignacio” requisitioned the Mercedes Benz truck, on kilometer 1,375 of National Route No. 12, in which two people were carrying eucalyptus sticks.
The authorities, with the assistance of trained dogs, toured the cabin and the trailer, where the animals detected the presence of drugs.
As a consequence, the police deepened the search of the truck and found 155 rectangular packages with 4,750 packages, conditioned at the base of the semi-trailer.
There, Criminalistics and Forensic Studies personnel carried out the Narcotest field tests on the substance found, which yielded positive results for cannabis sativa with a total weight of 3,834 kilos with 54 grams.
The Court and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of the City of Posadas intervened and ordered the arrest of the citizens, the seizure of the drug and the vehicle.
