About 100 letters containing suspicious white powder have been sent to lawmakers and other government officials across Kansas, officials said.

No injuries were reported, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. It had counted more than 30 letters by late Friday afternoon and increased the number to 100 as of Sunday.

About 100 letters containing suspicious white powder were sent to Kansas officials and lawmakers, according to authorities.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, the agency said preliminary tests on the substance came back negative for common dangerous toxins.

In emails sent to lawmakers obtained by The Topeka Capital-Journal, Tom Day, director of Legislative Administrative Services, said the Kansas Highway Patrol notified his office of the letters, which included a return address from Kansas City or Topeka.

The letters have been sent home to lawmakers and have been turned over to the KBI and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Day wrote.
