A United Airways flight aborted takeoff from Chicago’s O’Hare Worldwide Airport after an engine caught fireplace, briefly halting arrivals amid busy Memorial Day journey. 

United Flight 2091, an Airbus A320, was about to take off from the airport round 2 p.m. when an engine caught fireplace, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed.

The flight was headed to Seattle-Tacoma Worldwide Airport in Washington. An airport spokesman mentioned the airplane skilled an “emergency state of affairs” upon departure and the state of affairs was resolved “safely.” 

The FAA mentioned it has halted arrivals into the airport.

United Airways instructed Fox Information Digital the airplane was towed to the gate, passengers deplaned usually and no accidents have been reported. 

“We’re working to make various journey preparations for patrons,” UA mentioned in an announcement.

The airplane had 148 passengers on board, with 5 crew members.
