The vice president, Senator Kashim Shettima, will leave Abuja today to represent President Bola Tinubu at two major international summits in Rome, Italy and St. Petersburg, Russia.
At the event in Rome, Vice President Shettima will join other world leaders for the first Stocktaking Moment (STM) Summit themed “Transforming Food Systems for People, Planet and Prosperity,” to be held from Monday, July 24 to Wednesday, July 26.
At the summit, the Vice President will chair a high-level session themed “Innovative Finance for Food System Transformation: The Case of Nigeria” and the side event on “Scaling Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration and Investment in Implementing Food System Transformation Pathways in Nigeria”,
The event is organized in partnership with the Rome-based UN agencies, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Program (WFP), as well as the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and the wider UN system.
Vice President Shettima will then depart from Rome for St. Petersburg in Russia to represent the president at the Russia-Africa summit scheduled for Wednesday, July 26-Saturday, July 29.
While in Russia, the Vice President will attend the 2nd Russia-Africa Summit and the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum along with other political and business leaders, focusing on strategies to improve relations between Russia and the African continent, among other things.
Vice President Shettima will also participate in bilateral meetings with representatives of relevant Russian senior government officials and business leaders to discuss relations between Russia and Nigeria.
Vice President Shettima, who is accompanied by senior government officials from ministries, departments and agencies, is expected back in the country by the end of this week.
