In 2021, College students Deserve, a progressive grassroots scholar group advocating for the abolition of police in faculties, pressured the LAUSD and the college board to divest cash from the Los Angeles College District Police.
The group argued the presence of cops on faculty campuses usually led to the criminalization of scholars, significantly these from Black and brown communities, and contributed to a hostile and intimidating surroundings that hindered studying.

Many College students Deserve representatives will seem at board conferences, Palma mentioned, and urge members to not make investments funds within the faculty’s police division.
