The new application called Threads was presented on Wednesday, July 5, and in just seven hours after its launch it had 10 million users.
This was announced by Mark Zuckerberg, president of Meta and creator of Facebook, who launched this new application that according to technology experts will compete with Twitter, the company that is now owned by Elon Musk.
That is why the launch of Threads has caused such a stir, as it is a competition between two great entrepreneurs in the technology market, in the age of applications.
But what is this platform described as Instagram’s “text-based app” all about? How similar is it to Twitter? Here we review part of its characteristics, to give a general idea of its operation.
Threads, what it is and how it works
Being a partner of Instagram, the popular photo-sharing network, from there the new application called Threads is already announced in the notifications. By clicking on that message, the option to download it is automatically offered.
Basically, Threads allows the user to compose and share text messages in real time. As expected, it is quite similar to Twitter.

The concept is still short posts and you can also include images and videos.
You can also comment on posts, like, heart, quote, and repost.
What are their characteristics?
By merging with Instagram, it is possible to quote a post and share it in a story. Its design is the same as the photo application, with the same buttons and very similar options.
Threads, like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, is part of Zuckerberg’s Meta network conglomerate.

For this reason, when using it, you can keep the same username and also give the option of following the same Instagram accounts just by pressing the “accept” button, in the first messages that appear on the screen the application has just been downloaded .
Regarding the character limit, for now it remains at 500 characters.
How to start testing Threads from Guatemala?
Although its debut was on July 6, it was unexpectedly released a day earlier, on July 5, 2023, internationally.
Since then, Instagram, as described above, started notifying its users about the release of Threads.
