The waters and airspace around Taiwan once again provide the backdrop for military flexes in a standoff between China and the US-backed island.
Chinese naval vessels and warplanes have simulated attacks, prompting Taiwan to deploy fighter jets and gunboats in response.
Beijing is furious after Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen met with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in California last week.
The exercises in the Taiwan Strait are the latest escalation between Beijing and Washington across the island.
