A father from Maryland, USA, was brutally beaten to death outside his home while protecting his children from a group of teenagers and adults who wanted to end a fight that started at school.
Christopher Michael Wright, 43, was outside his home Friday when he was confronted by three teenagers and two adults who were looking for his fiancee’s 14-year-old son, who had gotten into a fight with another teenager at Brooklyn Park Middle School. before.
“When Wright told the group that the boy wasn’t going out to fight, they told him: If he’s not going to fight, then you’re going to fight,” Wright’s fiancee, Tracy Karopchinsky, told foreign media.
The group attacked Wright, who was then taken to a hospital, where he died of a traumatic brain injury on Saturday.
The deadly beating was caught on security cameras. Karopchinsky’s three children were all home at the time.
School officials confirmed the fight at the school and said they are now cooperating with Anne Arundel County police during their investigation, WBAL-TV reported.
At the moment, no charges have been brought against any of the people involved.
Tracy said parents need to take responsibility for what she sees as rampant violence among teenagers.
“They didn’t just destroy us in life. Their lives will change forever. Their parents’ lives will be changed forever. We as parents are failing them in raising these children. It is not the responsibility of the school. It is our responsibility”, she said.
