White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeatedly dodged a question Wednesday about whether President Biden would support “financial” reparations to the descendants of black slaves in the US.

The question was posed by Liberal reporter April Ryan, who noted the recent introduction of legislation by far-left Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., who pushed for $14 trillion in reparations, and asked what the government’s view was on “righting a wrong for the descendants of Africans in this country.”

“In terms of reparations, I just saw Corey Bush’s resolution. We haven’t reviewed the proposal yet — some new proposals — so we’ll look at it,” Jean-Pierre replied after a lengthy explanation of Biden’s advocacy of Juneteenth as a federal holiday .

“So I can’t comment specifically on that. But the president has been very clear about reparations. He wants to see a study of reparations and studying the ongoing effects of slavery. He believes that’s incredibly important.” she said. .

Ryan pressed Jean-Pierre, asking if Biden would support “a payout” and “financial reparation” if the results of an investigation match calls for financial reparations.

“So look, I’ll say this: We have to let the study move forward. We have to let — to see what the study shows, and we have to continue to study the impact of slavery,” Jean-Pierre replied, avoiding a direct answer to the question.

“So let’s see what the study shows. It’s important to continue to study the ongoing effects, if you will, on slavery. And I think because of the president’s action — he’s been very clear. He has been very clear how important it is, even just looking at his economic policies, how important it is to leave no one behind, to put justice at the center of everything he has done,” she added.
