Users on social networks have reported that high temperatures have been recorded in some sectors of the territory for a few days and this weekend is no exception.
“I would dare to say that it has never been as hot in Guatemala City as in these last two months,” @gerguz7 recently wrote on Twitter.
While the user @ EstebanAlejan24 wrote on June 9: “In Guatemala it has rained very little. And the high temperatures continue, much hotter than normal. Yesterday more than 30 degrees in the capital, to be June, very abnormal”.
The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology was consulted regarding the high temperatures and reported that low moisture content is expected, mainly from the north to the center of the country.
He added that the decrease in atmospheric pressure will favor the maintenance of high temperatures and the forecasts reflect a low probability of rain.
The current hot conditions are expected to change starting Monday, June 12.
For this Saturday, June 10, the warm and sunny atmosphere will prevail. High solar radiation and haze in the environment.
Also possibility of rain or drizzle at the end of the afternoon or night over the Central Highlands, Bocacosta and some sectors of the south.
In addition, the presence of severe local storms (abundant rain and strong wind) over mountainous or volcanic sectors is not ruled out.
