Fans of the Broadway musical “Wicked” will get their first taste of the upcoming movie adaptation.

Director John M. Chu, who also directed the hit movie “Crazy Rich Asians,” tweeted an image of Elphaba and Glinda, played by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, respectively, as a tease for the movie.

“You haven’t told the whole story. What happens when you go off the Yellow Brick Road? Here’s your very first LOOK from #WickedMovie… currently in production in Oz.”

Some fans have commented that the images are dark and it’s hard to see much detail from Grande and Erivo.

“I know it’s still being worked on and won’t be ready until next year, but will the final versions of these two shots be clearer than this? Please confirm,” one person asked.

“Girl please turn on the lights by the time I can watch this movie,” one commenter quipped.

“Looks like Wicked is ‘Tim Burton-ized’. It’s a bright, in your face show. These just look dark,” said another.

Chu replied, “Don’t worry, color is in my DNA… this is just the first tease. Plenty of time to show more… stay tuned.”

Grande, who was out of the spotlight while filming the musical, also recently responded to people’s comments on social media, particularly those about changes in her body and weight.

“I just wanted to discuss your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body, and to be seen and given so much attention,” the 29-year-old said in a TikTok. .

“I think we should be softer and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies no matter what. If you think you’re saying something good or well-meaning, whatever it is — healthy, unhealthy, big, small , this, that, sexy, not sexy — we just shouldn’t be doing that,” she said. “We really need to work on not doing that so much.

In the video, Grande commented that she was taking antidepressants and drinking and “eating badly” when “I looked like what you call my healthy. But that was not, in fact, my healthy.”

She added: “You never know what someone is going through, so even if you come from a loving place and a caring place, that person is probably working through it or has a support system that they are working through. You never know, so be gentle for each other and for yourself.”
