The Loudoun County school board opposed an amendment to the Pride Month resolution that would recognize biological differences between men and women, drawing criticism from Virginia Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin.

School board member John Beatty suggested amendment to the Pride Proclamation to add “while male and female bodies are different, Loudoun County Public Schools recognizes the need for separate bathrooms to provide privacy and security.”

He also proposed an amendment adding “while male and female bodies are different, Loudoun County Public Schools recognizes the need for separate sports leagues to provide fair competition.”

Beatty said the changes were important because the proclamation states Policy 8040, which states, “LCPS staff will allow gender-expansive and transgender students to participate in such activities in a manner consistent with the student’s gender identity.”

Both of Beatty’s proposals were not adopted. Brenda Sherida, one of the board members who voted against Beatty’s proposals, said that “the language proposed by Beatty is merely the corruption of what is in the proclamation.”

Beatty and Sherida did not respond to Fox Digital’s requests for comment.

Youngkin spokeswoman Macaulay Porter told Fox Digital that the governor was clear in his 2022 draft model policy that he “expects bathrooms and locker rooms based on their biological sex.”

“The primary concern of the Loudoun County school board should be to protect students following a sexual assault in their bathrooms,” Porter said. “On the first day, the Governor ordered an investigation and after the Attorney General’s investigation, Superintendent Ziegler was fired and charged.”

The school board fired Scott Ziegler over a grand jury report accusing the district of failing to respond adequately to two reports of sexual assault involving the same biological boy in raping female students in the girls’ bathroom.

The father of one of the girls claimed the district was trying to cover up his daughter’s sexual assault in order to enforce the former transgender bathroom policy.

The proclamation calling June Pride Month for the fourth time in Loudoun County Public Schools history is based on surveys by GLSEN and the Trevor Project, which promote radical gender ideology in schools across the country.

GLSEN calls for gender ideology to be mainstreamed in all classrooms, including math and science. It instructs teachers on how to make math “more inclusive of trans and non-binary identities” by incorporating “they/they” pronouns into word problems.

GLSEN also provides sexually oriented books from the “Rainbow Library” and provides primary school teachers with lesson plans on gender identity and pronouns.

The Trevor Project provides a “Coming Out” handbook teaching minors that “gender assignment does not take into account one’s true gender identity”.

“Your true gender may be different than the gender assigned to you by a doctor, which is completely normal, valid, and wonderful,” the handbook says.
