According to what was reported to the press by the prosecutor in the case, Carlos Ortigoza, “the man was intercepted at the door of his house when he was going to work and the doors were open.”

“They forced him to go inside, where his wife and son were sleeping, and after reducing them, they demanded money,” added the judicial official.

“The thieves took the three cell phones of the victims and with cash – with an estimated sum of $425,000 pesos – and as a result we have the death of this person,” said Ortigoza.

The prosecutor explained that the man’s body “shows no signs of having been attacked with a firearm or knife” and that “in principle the cause of death would be due to beatings,” which will be determined with the autopsy.

In the same event, he added, the victim’s son was injured, who suffered “blows to the face for which he had to be treated in a hospital but has already been discharged; while his wife was unharmed.”

Finally, Ortigoza reported that the criminals “would have escaped aboard a vehicle that was waiting for them.”

“They arrived in a vehicle, but we don’t know what kind of vehicle, because the wife was the one who saw the criminals get into a vehicle, but she was able to specify the model or color. The woman saw two criminals, one who approached her asking for money. Later, when they left, he saw two getting into a vehicle,” added the prosecutor.

Emilio Lambies was well known in the neighborhood, so his murder caused a stir among his neighbors, who described him as a hard-working man who, despite being retired, was engaged in buying and selling scrap metal.
