They apprehended him in a routine street control. He has a history of gender violence.
Police officers from the City of Buenos Aires detained “Loco del Bate”, a Colombian citizen with a history of gender violence who had a 9mm pistol without a permit to carry, in a routine control in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo.
The arrest of the man -whose identity was not released- took place on Friday at the corner of Juan B. Justo and Santa Fe avenues, when members of the Buenos Aires force stopped a black Toyota Corolla car for identification purposes in a routine check.
The driver of the vehicle, a Colombian national, began to act with striking nervousness when police officers requested the car’s documentation.
Faced with this suspicious situation, the police in charge of the control operation decided to proceed to search him in the presence of witnesses. During that search, it was observed that on the floor of the car, in the driver’s sector, there was a fanny pack.
The man was driving in a car with a bat and a firearm.
In front of the witnesses present, the officers opened it and found inside a Bersa pistol, model TPR9.
Given this finding, the man was insured. Although he exhibited a weapon possession credential and an ammunition consumption card, he did not have the corresponding carrying accreditation.
Officers continued to search the car, finding a black baseball bat.
When consulting the identification data of the man in the systems, it was discovered that he had a history of gender violence.
The Flagrancia Norte Prosecutor Unit, headed by Dr. Alejandro Martín Pellicoli, ordered the arrest of the subject and the kidnapping of the vehicle, the baseball bat, and proceedings for “carrying a weapon of war.”
