Educational policy is not an island in the social reality that surrounds it. The current government has not been concerned about Argentine public education and has only tried to indoctrinate it as good autocratic regimes do. An excellent public education goes against its own interests because it teaches young people to think for themselves; that is, to recognize and defend what is right from what is wrong.

The consequence of this abandonment startles us when we read the results of the evaluations to our boys, who place us in the backward positions of the world. Both in mathematics and in the comprehension of texts. This is not solved by distributing notebooks. We know that today the Internet has information superior to any teacher. However, it does not teach to think, it does not stimulate critical analysis, people willing to understand a country that needs profound change. This is the task of teachers, teachers, with a support and commitment from the State that does not exist today.

This is relevant because Law 26774 expanded the possibility of voting from the age of 16 and according to it “with young people democracy grows and we all grow”. A definition I fully support. But what can we expect from our young people when they assume the possibility of voting with the education that we are offering them? With their difficulties to carry out a critical analysis, how can they help to improve the country that we leave them?

The elections are coming. If we want to root out the poor present of our Argentina, let us demand that this policy, so concerned about its inmates, once again turn education into the foundation of our progress. That imprint that at the beginning of the twentieth century inserted Argentina into a world that admired it.

United for the welfare of all Argentines

I am an 88-year-old Argentinian who wants to help our much-loved country get back on track. In the current government they fight among themselves regardless of the state of poverty in our country.

I address Together for Change: gentlemen, the future of the country is at stake and you fight like cat and dog. They forget that we come from a Macri government that was not as good as it should have been; it was made up of capable people, but apparently they did not have a good plan to put the country in order. Leave particular interests behind, try to show that saving our Argentina unites you. Get together and make a list, the best possible. At this moment in JvC there are seven candidates for president. The fight between you increases the mistrust of potential voters. They are going to tell me that after the PASO, a single list will be formed, but they do not realize that if you do not agree now, the voter has a much worse time in the face of so much uncertainty. Show a unity of criteria and that everyone is driven by the well-being of Argentines and love for Argentina.

The bad we are is because of the acceptance of things

We live in a hypocritical society, that can be seen in many daily aspects. The most recent is the case of the Boca player sentenced to two years in prison suspended for gender violence. The club where he plays that continued to use him without removing him until he was investigated is hypocritical. The attitude of the Ministry for Women and feminists who with their silence demonstrate their uselessness and a political struggle rather than solidarity is hypocritical. The attitude of the Boca campus that took a photo with the sign “not one less” is hypocritical.

We are a hypocritical society that accepts the comfort of demagogy and populism. That he has accepted corruption without revolting, that he sees how they rob him, bags with euros are thrown, and chooses those who steal from him, accepting corruption as a virtue of their rulers. We are hypocrites because we accept and then complain. How bad we are is because of the acceptance of things. We have become accustomed to homelessness, poverty, unemployment, inflation, ignorance. We probably wouldn’t have done the French Revolution and gone on with a monarchy, nor would we have left Egypt like the Jewish people. We would continue to be slaves, we are slaves and we believe we are free.

Inappropriate statements for this difficult time

Nothing justifies violence, but it is imperative that those in public office be cautious. There are sayings, statements or actions of politicians that are not appropriate for this difficult moment. The campaign with handouts without taking into account hunger, extreme poverty, needs irritates people. Proof of this was the unjustified reaction of an assistant to an act in Brandsen, where she rebuked the governor. He should not victimize himself and talk about an alleged attack against him, attacking Justice. He cannot and must not insult another Power.

The presidential spokeswoman also has to lower the decibels. If there is a crisis, it is not in the media, it is only the fault of the policies of this and other governments. In this country only 10 to 20% of the inhabitants can fill restaurants and cinemas with luck. 30% are close to the poverty line and the other 50% are below… in case you don’t know. Provoking irritates those who are marginalized.

The Supreme Court and indefinite reelections

It is the Supreme Court that is in charge of imparting justice, although it bothers some. The High Court ruled that Sergio Uñac cannot be a candidate for governor in San Juan. There are a certain number of candidates who use all kinds of tricks and gadgets to stay in power. This class of politicians should consider the possibility of working in the private sector, and not always in the State.

The Court must now determine whether or not the re-election of Gildo Insfrán is legal. He has governed Formosa without interruption for more than 27 years (plus another 8 as lieutenant governor). His province ranks second among the poorest in Argentina, and is one of the three that receive the most funds from the national government. It is worth remembering that in Formosa almost all its inhabitants live off the State.

Insfrán’s assets are not known, since to date he has preferred not to make his sworn statement public. He arbitrarily he leads his province. More than a governor, Insfrán seems to be a landlord and the citizens of Formosa, his pawns.

Thank you to the Instituto Lana

I have been operated on at the Alfredo Lanari Institute twice in the last 3 months in a satisfactory manner. My total gratitude to all the medical service, residents and students for the care received. Although it is also worth highlighting the service provided by nurses, stretcher-bearers, and cleaning staff, the building situation is very precarious. I request whoever corresponds to allocate money for this purpose because it is an institute of excellence that depends on the UBA and as such it should be maintained as an icon of health in our country.
