As a result of the rains that have covered the Guatemalan territory this June 15, the authorities have reported several incidents, ranging from trees fallen by the strong winds or vehicles that skidded on the wet asphalt.
The traffic authorities have also requested caution from drivers who travel through different parts of the capital city, in order to minimize the chances of suffering a traffic mishap.
Amílcar Montejo, traffic mayor of the capital city, reported through his social networks that there are several points that have been affected by the rains, such as the road connections between the capital city and Santa Catarina Pinula and zones 1, 6, 17 and 18.
In addition, Pablo Morales, municipal manager of Mixco, reported that the rains have also affected sectors such as San Cristóbal, the Inter-American highway and the Roosevelt Causeway.
The National Civil Police shared two photographs of different parts of the highway to El Salvador that were affected by the fall of trees, which caused them to block one of the traffic lanes.
Similarly, the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) reported on their social networks that on Vista Hermosa boulevard, on 19 avenue in zone 15 in the auxiliary lane, a tree also fell due to heavy rain and wind. .
“The PMT is working on the spot to clear the road. Drive with caution,” the entity shared on social media.
Amílcar Montejo also reported that a large tree fell on the roadway at 5th avenue and 9th street in zone 14 and caused damage to two vehicles.

Another incident involving fallen trees is the one that occurred on 7th avenue in zone 10, where Montejo assures that there were also reports of fallen poles that obstruct the passage at the exit of the Galileo and Marroquín universities.

The fallen trees are not the only incidents caused by the rains, Montejo also reported that a motorist was injured after his vehicle skidded on the Periférico, specifically on 19 street in zone 7.
