Motorola is known for making smartphones with unique and intriguing designs. Motorola unveiled its latest smartphone, the ThinkPhone, designed for professionals, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The device is not only visually appealing, but also offers business solutions, making it a distinctive addition to Motorola’s smartphone range.

One of the most impressive aspects of the ThinkPhone is its design. The smartphone has a carbon black back and is made of lightweight aramid fiber, making the device both light and elegant. The aerospace-grade aluminum frame gives the unit a premium feel. The classic ThinkPad red “paint” on the side buttons also adds to the overall design of the device. This “red paint” button can be customized by users to perform various functions, which is a useful feature.

It was initially believed that Motorola would only offer the ThinkBook laptop and ThinkPad tablet lines as part of business service contracts. However, it seems that Motorola is now planning to make the Motorola ThinkPhone available to non-business users as well. Lenovo officials believed a limited launch would be too restrictive, so they now plan to sell the Motorola ThinkPhone in select countries for around $1,000 thanks to deals with some retailers.

The Motorola ThinkPhone will hit stores in late January, with a basic black carbon fiber mesh finish and a memory configuration of 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage that cannot be expanded. The price of the device may differ per country and per store, but is expected to be around 1,000 euros.

The ThinkPhone’s hardware specs are also impressive. The device has a 6.6-inch FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixel) pOLED display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The screen also has HDR10+, Amazon HDR Playback, YouTube HDR Playback, SGS Low Blue Light and SGS Low Motion Blur eye protection. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chipset and comes with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 128, 256 or 512 GB.

There’s also 5G connectivity, dual-band WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 LE, aGPS, NFC and USB Type-C OTG on the ThinkPhone. The audio system on the device is Dolby Atmos stereo and has dual microphone noise reduction. The front camera of the device has a resolution of 32 MP and autofocus, while the rear cameras have a resolution of 50 MP (main, f/1.8, PDAF, OIS), 13 MP (ultra wide angle, f/2.2, 120o) , and 2 MP (depth, f/2.4) and supports 8K@30 fps video. The battery capacity of the device is 5,000 mAh and it has 68W TurboPower and 15W wireless charging. The device is IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certified and runs on the Android 13 operating system.

In summary, the Motorola ThinkPhone is an impressive addition to the company’s range of smartphones. The design of the device is elegant and the hardware specifications are impressive. Because the ThinkPhone offers business solutions, it is an excellent choice for professionals. The device will be available in stores at the end of January, with prices varying depending on the country and seller. All in all, the Motorola ThinkPhone is a device worth considering if you’re in the market for a new smartphone.
