Black bear spotted on busy Florida beach
On a sunny day on a busy beach in Destin, Florida, on June 11, a black bear was spotted swimming alongside humans. Footage captured by Chris Barron shows the bear running out of the ocean right next to beachgoers. See the shocking scene!
Beachgoers in Florida got a shock when they saw a young black bear frolicking in the ocean over the weekend for a summer vacation of their own on a crowded beach.
Onlookers captured video of the bear running along the shoreline in Destin, Florida, and shared it on social media.
“My reaction was definitely a bit of a shock because that was the last thing I expected to see swimming there,” witness Steffani Saddler said. FOX35 Orlando.
Videos show the lone bear taking a dip in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and running among sunbathers to cool off on the shoreline.

Captain Frank Merrell told the station he was returning from a diving trip when he saw the animal.

“My first thought might have been a dog, but I was completely shocked when I realized it was a bear,” said Merrell.

The bear was eventually seen running out of the water and past beach chairs on the sand. It is not clear where the bear fled to.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, black bears are found throughout Florida, although the animals require forested areas with dense vegetation and plenty of seasonal foods such as fruits, vegetation, acorns and nuts.
