While those of us who truly revere the 4th of July for its historic and freedom-gaining significance, the far left, determined not only to cancel it, but to smear our founding and founding documents, is mobilizing again.

The truth is they never stop.

Many of their attacks are overt. Call to cancel 4th of July and ban parades. Sandblasting the names of our Founding Fathers from schools and colleges and knocking down their statues. Converting the homes of Thomas Jefferson (Monticello) and James Madison (Montpelier) into fortresses of wakeness. Smearing our founders with pejoratives like “white supremacist.”

But an increasing number of attacks are treacherously hidden.

‘EXTREME PRIDE’ IN AMERICA GOES TO RECORD LOW NUMBER BEFORE JULY 4

One of the latest such covert attacks — as thankfully reported in The Carolina Journal — has come from the University of North Carolina, where officials and their government affairs team are working behind the scenes to enforce the university’s constitutional literacy legislation, the Reach Act. fuses.

What is the Accessibility Act?

If the Reach Act is passed, all North Carolina public college students would be required to take a three-credit course on the U.S. government, the U.S. Constitution, and other fundamental U.S. documents, including the Declaration of Independence and Martin Luther King’s letter , Jr. from Birmingham Prison.

Who could be against that? Well, aside from the aforementioned UNC officials, how about 700 liberal professors from the school and counting.

To his credit, when former Vice President Mike Pence spoke at UNC, he vigorously defended the Reach Act, but his voice was barely heard outside that room.

One of the main reasons – as I have emphasized before – is that over the past few decades, the left and the far left have taken a stranglehold on what I call the “five big megaphones” of our country: the media, academia , entertainment, science and medicine.

Not only do they control most of the narrative, but, as we have seen time and time again, they can and do silence those who go against that far-left narrative. Including former vice presidents defending the teachings of our founding documents.

Alarmingly, what is happening on the UNC campus is spreading like wildfire, not only across our liberal- and socialist-dominated colleges and universities, but also across our high schools and high schools.

JULY 4TH QUIZ! HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR FACTS ABOUT INDEPENDENCE DAY?

About this time last year, I wrote “The 56: Freedom Lessons From Those Who Risked Everything to Sign the Declaration of Independence.” The sole purpose of that book was not only to warn about this Machiavellian cancellation process initiated by activists and anarchists on the left, but also to show how we can fight back to save our shared — and often sacred — American history.

Make no mistake. The extreme left wins.

With each passing month, they manage to further eradicate our Founding Fathers, as they eradicate the history that documents their genius, courage and enormous sacrifice as they worked as a whole to establish the greatest nation on Earth.

A few weeks ago, the far-left mayor of Albany, New York, succeeded in removing Major General Philip Schuyler’s statue in front of City Hall. Schuyler was not only a heroic commander during the Revolutionary War, but also a member of the Continental Congress, a United States Senator, and the father-in-law of Alexander Hamilton. The left doesn’t care. To them, he was a “white supremacist” who needed to be dealt with.

We lose, but all is far from lost.

Around 1772 our Founding Fathers “Committees of Correspondence” began to proclaim the tyranny of the British Crown. Handwritten letters traveled from city to city, province to province, colony to colony.

Our Founding Fathers knew then what we must never forget now. That unless those bent on totalitarianism imprison us or take our lives, they cannot silence our voices. They cannot silence us.

“If our history is bad, let’s condemn it and learn from it. If it’s good, let’s praise it and build on it. But let’s never, ever cancel our shared American history.”

July 4 is the most sacred day and holiday in the history of our country. Our Founding Fathers – who, like all human beings, were flawed men – were courageous heroes. Our founding documents are the lasting blueprints for true freedom.
