But Cruz appeared on the tarmac, which left Hutchinson “furious” as this was not the plan.

Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson said in her new memoir that Sen. Ted Cruz told her not to be a “tattletale” after she vented to Mark Meadows about him showing up to greet President Donald Trump at a tarmac arrival in Texas.

Hutchinson, whose memoirs“Enough,” released Tuesday, chronicles the efforts she made to coordinate Trump’s August 2020 visit to the state in the wake of Hurricane Laura, a Category 4 storm that devastated parts of the Gulf region.

In the memoir, Hutchinson described her plan to have Republican Governor Greg Abbott of Texas greet Trump on the tarmac, while Cruz and then-House Minority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana would participate in a round table discussion with the then president.

And she wrote about her dismay when she saw Cruz – whom she had once interned during her studies – on the asphalt.

“While we were in the air, a vanguard worker texted me news that I didn’t want. Ted Cruz had pressured OLA (Office of Legislative Affairs) to get local law enforcement and the Secret Service to allow him onto the tarmac to greet POTUS,” she wrote. “I had very strict instructions from Mark and the president, but there he stood when we landed, next to Governor Abbott, ready to grin and tackle the president, who was expecting him alone at the round table.’

“I was furious,” she continued. “I saw Cruz and I ran at him.”

Hutchinson then said an advance worker tried to get Cruz to leave the tarmac, which reportedly angered him.

As a top aide to then-chief of staff Mark Meadows, Hutchinson said she was unimpressed by Cruz’s actions.

“I don’t care what Cruz feels,” she told the staffer, according to the memoir. “If he wins the presidential election, he can dictate events any way he wants.”

Hutchinson approached Cruz to discuss the situation, but the conversation quickly deteriorated.

‘At first I was cordial. “I thanked him for meeting there and promised him that I would let the President know that he had been with us throughout the visit,” she wrote. “But the president had a vision for the touchdown because he specifically instructed that only Governor Abbott would greet him.”

Hutchinson said Cruz then asked her if she liked her job. So she responded that if he ever ignored her instructions, it would be “the last presidential event you ever receive an invitation to.”

“Tell that to Mark,” the senator said, according to Hutchinson. “He will never take your side.”

Hutchinson then told Meadows about the incident, angry about the situation while emphasizing that Cruz’s disregard for her authority also meant the senator ignored his.

“After the roundtable ended, I watched as Mark pulled Cruz aside,” she wrote. “When they finished talking, Cruz walked up to me and warned me not to be a ‘tattletale’ again. I warned him not to respect my authority.”

“That was the last time I spoke to Ted Cruz,” she added.

In June 2022, Hutchinson testified before the House Committee on January 6, rocking the nation’s capital with her bombshell statements about Trump’s conduct in the White House immediately following the 2020 election, as well as her frustrations with Meadows about his actions at the outbreak of the Capitol riot.

When Insider’s Bryan Metzger asked Cruz last year if he had seen Hutchinson’s testimony, he responded turned down panel hearings.

“I have not seen any of this political circus and kangaroo court being set up by the Democrats,” he said at the time.

Insider reached out to a representative for Cruz for comment.
