The Asiana Airlines plane managed to land safely with 194 people on board, some of whom had respiratory problems.

A passenger opened an emergency exit on a domestic flight in South Korea, causing air blasts in the cabin before the plane landed safely.

The commercial airliner was minutes after landing on Friday when the passenger sitting next to the emergency door opened a cover and pulled a lever, opening the plane to about 200 meters (656 feet) above the ground.

People aboard Asiana Airlines’ Airbus A321 plane failed to stop the man from opening the door, the transport ministry said.

Video footage apparently taken by a person on board and posted to social media shows passengers’ hair being fluttered by air rushing into the cabin.

The unexpected opening left some passengers with breathing difficulties and nine people were taken to hospital after landing, Asiana said, adding there were no major injuries or damage.

Police arrested the unknown person who opened the door and his motive was unclear, the airline said.
