One suspect is still on the run, police said.
Nine people, including children, were injured in a Memorial Day shooting along Florida’s Hollywood Beach Broadwalk Monday evening after a dispute erupted between two groups, police said.
A person of interest has been apprehended and police are looking for an additional suspect who is still at large, Hollywood Police Department public information manager Deanna Bettineschi said.
Four youths between the ages of 1 and 17 were shot, including a child between 15 and 18 months old, Bettineschi said, as well as five adults aged 25 to 65. One person is undergoing surgery and the rest of the victims are stable at this time. point, she added.

Hollywood Beach Mayor Josh Levy said he was “saddened and angry” by the shooting and that “innocent bystanders” were injured as a result of the altercation between two groups.
“People come to enjoy a holiday weekend at the beach with their families, and to have people completely recklessly disregard public safety and have an altercation with guns in the public setting with thousands of people around them is more than reckless.’ he said at a press conference.
Police are asking local residents to avoid the area during the investigation.
Bettineschi also asked anyone who might have videos or photos of the incident to send them to [email protected].
Hollywood Beach is located on Florida’s east coast, about 10 miles south of Fort Lauderdale and 20 miles north of Miami.
