Cornerstone Closes Key Offers For Daniel Kokotajlo’s ‘Starve Acre’ – Deadline

Cornerstone has closed gross sales on a number of territories together with North America and the UK for author and director Daniel Kokotajlo’s people horror Starve Acre.

The offers had been finalized following the movie’s world premiere in Competitors on the BFI London Movie Pageant.

Brainstorm Media has acquired distribution rights for North America whereas BFI Distribution has taken the UK and Eire.

Further offers embrace Germany and Switzerland (X Verleih), ex-Yugoslavia (Blitz) Poland (Galapagos), Center East (Entrance Row), Japan (Klockworx) and airways (Terry Steiner) (Airways).

Starring Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark, Starve Acre is written and directed by Kokotajlo and primarily based on the guide by Andrew Michael Hurly.

Set within the Seventies, an idyllic household life is thrown into turmoil when the son begins performing out of character. At Starve Acre, their distant household house, the archaeologist father buries himself in exploring a folkloric delusion that the traditional oak tree on their land is imbued with phenomenal powers.

The movie is produced by Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell, Derrin Shlesinger and Emma Duffy. It was developed with BBC Movie and is funded by Entry Leisure along with BBC Movie and the BFI, awarding Nationwide Lottery funding.

Kokotajlo received the IWC Schaffhausen Filmmaker Bursary Award in affiliation with the BFI for his debut function movie Apostasy.
