Officers in Colorado intervened to assist a deer trapped in a rat lure, officers stated.

Officers in Durango obtained calls October 1 of residents a couple of do with a rat lure caught to her face, in line with a put up from Colorado Parks and Wildlife Southwest Area on Twitter, now renamed X.

The lure was “secured to the comfortable tissue” within the deer’s jaw, so she couldn’t eat or drink, officers at X stated.

The doe was shot away so officers may safely take away the lure, wildlife officers stated.

Officers consider whoever set the lure used peanut butter in hopes of catching a rodent and are asking the general public to be cautious of the place they place their traps.

The deer was free of the lure and rejoined her mom and siblings close to Buckley Park, officers stated.

Durango is positioned about 330 miles southwest of Denver.
