Ernesto Paz Aguilar, former Honduran foreign minister, dies

Former Honduran Foreign Minister Ernesto Paz Aguilar died this Tuesday in Tegucigalpa after a health breakdown, official sources reported. Paz Aguilar had been serving as a magistrate of the Electoral Justice Tribunal (ECJ).

Honduran Foreign Minister Edward Henry Queenrecalled that Paz Aguilar was also vice-rector of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH) and professor. “Our sincere condolences to Dr. Blanca Lizeth Rivera, and her daughter Irene,” Reina said in a message on the social network Twitter.

The former Honduran president Manuel Zelaya He also expressed his condolences on the death of Ernesto Paz Aguilar, who was also a writer and analyst.

Zelaya stressed that the former foreign minister was “defender of sovereignty in the Government of the Moral Revolution (of Carlos Roberto Reina 1994-1998) and of the Government of Citizen Power (2006-2009)” and that “he fought alongside us in the streets against the coup d’état (June 28, 2009) and creation of @PartidoLibre in the national re-foundation project with @XiomaraCastroZ”.

Ernesto Paz Aguilar, with a doctorate in law, was also a graduate of the University of Social Sciences of Toulouse I, France. EFE
