Eskom has announced relief relief for the weekend – here it is

Eskom has stated that the shutdown would alternate between Stages 1 and 2 over the weekend, with an 11am break on Sunday.

The current phase 2 load shedding will last until 05:00 Saturday, when Eskom will lower it to phase 1.

This will continue until 4 p.m. Saturday, when phase 2 will begin unloading.

The power will then be turned off from Sunday morning 05:00 AM to 04:00 PM.

Phase 1 load shedding is in effect for 24 hours, starting at 4:00 PM on Sunday and ending at 4:00 PM on Monday, after which power outages revert to Phase 2.

Eskom reported that 14,489 MW of generating capacity was down due to outages and 6,190 MW out of service for scheduled maintenance as of 3:00 p.m. Friday.

Three production units at the Hendrina, Majuba and Tutuka power plants have been brought back into operation in the past 24 hours.

During the same period, a production unit at each of the Arnot, Camden, Kriel and Tutuka power plants was shut down for maintenance.

Eskom said it was still experiencing difficulties in restoring electricity to the Duvha and Medupi power stations.
