FNB and RMB Private Bank customers can now create virtual cards for their global accounts, making their international payments more secure and convenient. Global accounts provide a way to save and transact in foreign currencies, whether you’re saving for travel abroad, need quick access to manage currency risk, or receive and make international payments. The ability to create a virtual card on a global account allows you to easily pay in popular currencies such as the US Dollar (USD), British Pound Sterling (GBP) and Euro (EUR).

Yashen Singh, CEO of FNB Private Core Banking, added: “Global accounts have become increasingly popular among our clients and we will continue to innovate to meet their demands by making it easier to save and transact. It helps you keep track of account balances in multiple currencies and you always know how much foreign currency you have on hand. This also ensures that fluctuating exchange rates do not have a negative effect on your account balances.

“Users of the global FNB and RMB Private Bank accounts can earn back up to 4% in eBucks and access benefits such as global emergency assistance, global ATM network, airport lounge access, extended warranty, flight reservations, hotel reservations, restaurant reservations, reservations for car rentals, event ticket purchases and travel planning, to name a few,” added Singh.

FNB and RMB Private Bank customers have created more than 4 million virtual cards since its launch in 2021 with over R15 billion spent. One of the main advantages of FNB and RMB Private Bank virtual cards is their security features. The 3-digit CVV number changes every hour, reducing the risk of fraud and keeping cardholder information secure. This feature is especially important for online transactions, where fraud is a common problem.
