The reported decision by leftist billionaire investor and philanthropist George Soros to hand over control of his $25 million empire to his son, Alex Soros, has sparked a not-so-subtle joke from a European leader.

“Soros 2.0,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote on Twitter Monday, including a GIF depicting a scene from the movie “The Godfather” in which patriarch and mafia head Vito Corleone kisses son Michael Corleone’s cheek.

In the film, Michael takes over the crime family after Vito’s death, continuing his father’s work to grow the organization and fight the family’s enemies.

GEORGE SOROS’ SON, 37, GIVES FIRST INTERVIEW SINCE TAKEOVER OF VADER’S $25B EMPIRE: ‘I’M MORE POLITICAL’

Orbán has a long history of clashing with Soros, a fellow Hungarian, whom he has called “the condensed symbol of all that hates the Hungarian right.”

Orbán attended Oxford University on a scholarship from the Soros Foundation before delving into the world of politics. Despite attending college as a Soros protégé, Orban quickly forged his own identity as an anti-communist and Hungarian nationalist, deviating from Soros’s globalist leanings.

In his first interview after the reports of his ascension, Alex Soros told The Wall Street Journal that he is “more political” than his father, indicating his intention to broaden his father’s liberal goals. He reportedly plans to follow in his father’s footsteps by supporting left-wing politicians.

“As much as I’d like to get money out of politics, as long as the other side is doing it, we’re going to have to do it too,” Alex said.

He further expressed concern over the prospect of former President Donald Trump returning to the White House in the 2024 presidential election.

Alex Soros recently met with officials from the Biden administration, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., and heads of state, including Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, The Journal reported.

George Soros told the Journal that he previously didn’t want any of his children to take over the foundation “on principle”, because he believed it should be “managed by someone best suited”.
