The four indigenous children rescued from the Guaviare jungle after an astonishing 40-day feat of survival are out of danger and recovering in Bogotá.
Lesly (13 years old), Soleiny (9), Tien Noriel (5) and Cristin (1) were traveling with their mother and a pilot in a small plane that fell on May 1 and was left with the front destroyed in the middle of the thick jungle. . All the adults died and their corpses were found in the surroundings of the accident. The children, on the other hand, were found 40 days later.
This Sunday, while the Commander of the Military Forces, General Helder Fernan Giraldo Bonilla, visited and received the medical report of the little ones, Lesly and Soleiny gave him a drawing made by them.

Wilson is the dog that found the children and then got lost in the jungle. The Belgian Shepherd is 6 years old and is specially trained to search for people, rescue and to detect explosives.

The Army registered the disappearance of the animal on Thursday of last week and launched a hypothesis: “Due to the complexity of the terrain, the humidity and the adverse weather conditions, it would have become disoriented,” the institution said in a bulletin.

The military also claimed to have “found footprints that belonged to the minors and very close to those that could have belonged to the dog.”
