An Illinois couple and their two children have been missing for more than two months, police said, revealing that the man had previously been ordered to stay away from the family home due to a domestic violence incident.

Stephen Lutz, 44, Monica Lutz, 34, and their children Nicholas, 9, and Aiden, 11, were reported missing on Feb. 10 by a relative. in the middle of the night, according to a flyer from the Missing Persons Awareness Network.

The family’s phones last pinged in Richmond, Indiana, according to the flyer that was shared on Facebook by the Newton Police Department. The phones have since been disconnected, authorities said.

Police attempted to locate the family on Feb. 14, according to a press release. Police said at this time there is no indication that the family is in immediate danger, but that they are “taking the necessary precautions due to the long time the parties have been missing”. The Missing Persons Awareness Network said in its flyer that the family is believed to be in “great danger”.

Police could not be immediately reached for comment on Saturday.

According to police, Stephen Lutz appeared in court via Zoom in January for domestic battery charges. He was released on bail under the condition that he not contact or enter the home of the victim or his family, the press release said. The case is still pending.

Authorities said there have been previous reports of domestic violence in the home. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Stephen Lutz.
