The National Autonomous University of Honduras (Unah), for the third consecutive year, remains among the best universities in the world, according to the recent publication of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World Ranking.

The 2024 edition of the QS Ranking positions UNAH in the 1,401+ position out of 1,499 that entered the world ranking of 2,963 universities evaluated globally out of a universe of 30,000 higher education institutions that exist; UNAH is the only institution of higher education in the country that appears worldwide.

The indicators valued by the QS Ranking are: research, to which it gives 50 percent of the total percentage; 20 percent to graduate employment, 10 percent to the learning experience, 15 percent to global involvement, and 5 percent to sustainability.

The rector of the Maximum House of Studies, Francisco J. Herrera Alvarado, highlighted that for the third consecutive year UNAH remains among the best universities in the world and stressed that “one of the indicators with the highest score is that of Employment Results, reflecting the capacity of the institution to guarantee the employability of its graduates”.

In the Central American region, UNAH, together with the University of Panama (UP), the National University of Costa Rica and the University of San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC), maintain the same position achieved in the 2023 edition, while the University of Costa Rica (UCR) and the Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC) lowered their positions, however, they continue to maintain the first places and only the Technological University of Panama rose positions.

In this sense, it reflects that of the 24 universities that make up the Central American Higher University Council (CSUCA), only eight higher education institutions from four countries achieved a position in the 2024 edition of the QS Ranking.

Regarding scientific research, UNAH ranks first in Central America according to the SCimago Ranking, due to the production of research articles published in Scopus.
