The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confirmed that locally produced Indomie Instant Noodles in Nigeria are safe for consumption, while refuting reports circulating online that it has banned locally produced Indomie Instant Noodles. The regulatory body said this on Monday through its director-general, Prof. Ms. Mojisola Adeyey.
According to the DG, “NAFDAC has not banned Indomie Instant Noodles produced in Nigeria. NAFDAC has registered several local manufacturers and the Indomie noodles are certified safe for consumption. The noodles from Taiwan and Malaysia have nothing to do with our local producers.”
The statement provides assurance to consumers who have been exposed to a range of misleading publications that the product has been banned by the regulator. The flood of local publications came after the alleged discovery of ethylene oxide, a carcinogen found in Indomie’s “special chicken” flavor in Taiwan, and Malaysia by health officials in both countries.
Speaking on the matter, Group Corporate Communications and Event Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Limited, Tope Ashiwaju said, “We want to assure our valued customers in Nigeria that all packaging of Indomie Instant Noodles consumed in Nigeria is sourced locally under strict international rules best manufacturing practices with ISO certified standards.

“We strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures established by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) in all our manufacturing processes. “We only use the best ingredients, sourced from reputable suppliers, and our production facilities are regularly inspected and audited to ensure they meet the highest standards,” he said.
The Indomie Instant Noodles consumed in Nigeria are sourced locally by Dufil Prima Foods Limited and have been producing Indomie Instant Noodle in Nigeria for almost 3 decades.
