Maine state police arrested 34-year-old Joseph Eaton and charged him with murder Tuesday evening after he reportedly shot four people and wounded three others earlier in the day.
The shooting began Tuesday morning at a home in Bowdoin, a rural town about 30 miles northeast of Portland, where four victims were found shot to death. Later in the day, hearses were seen leaving the house in a wooded lot.
The gunman then opened fire about 25 miles south of Bowdoin off Interstate 295, injuring three people, including one seriously. A car with bullet holes in its windshield was seen near an exit where the shooting took place.
Authorities have not immediately identified the victims or released information about a motive for the shootings.
