A number of Kansas counties are below twister watch.

The Nationwide Climate Service A twister watch was issued Wednesday night for Atchison, Coffey, Dickinson, Doniphan, Douglas, Franklin, Geary, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Leavenworth, Lyon, Miami, Morris, Osage, Pottawatomie, Riley, Shawnee, Wabaunsee and Wyandotte counties. The warning is in impact till 1 a.m. CT Thursday.

The NWS is forecasting thunderstorms in northeastern and north-central Kansas on Wednesday night, which it warns may “turn into extreme rapidly.”

What the NWS described as massive to very massive hailballs larger than two inches in diameter might be produced by the storm.

Thunderstorms with lightning could also be on their approach to northeast and east-central Kansas on Thursday.
