New US visa fee goes into effect

The United States embassy in Honduras recalled this Friday that on June 17, 2023, the new fee for non-immigrant visa applications enters into force.

The application fee for visitors and other categories of non-immigrant visas will increase from 160 dollars (3,955 lempiras) to 185 dollars (4,573 lempiras).

Non-immigrant visa applications that are not based on petitions such as B1/B2, C1, C1/D, F, I, J, M, T and U will now cost $185.

Petition-based visas such as student and exchange visitor visas such as H, L, O, P, Q and R will cost from $190 to $205 (5,067 lempiras).

While the fee for a treaty trader, treaty investor and treaty seekers in a specialized occupation (category E) will increase from $205 to $315 (7,786 lempiras).

“Fares paid before June 17, 2023 will remain valid until the expiration date of the receipt,” explained the United States embassy on its official Twitter account.

Other consular fees will not be affected by this rule, including waiving the required two-year residency fee for certain exchange visitors.

The fees for most non-petition nonimmigrant visas were last updated in 2012, and some other fees were last updated in 2014.
