Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis (R) has made “wake up” a central part of his identity and a key to his 2024 presidential aspirations, even using the word seven times in 20 seconds at an event last month.
But MSNBCs Nicole Wallace did not have his last attempt to use it as a talking point.
On Tuesday’s “Deadline White House,” she played a clip of DeSantis vowing again to end “waking up” if elected.
“I will be able to destroy leftism in this country and leave the awakened ideology in the dustbin of history,” DeSantis told Fox News.
After the clip, Wallace let out a loud laugh.
Then she got serious.
“A waking mob has not stormed the US Capitol. An awake crowd did not shoot Uvalde. An awakened mob doesn’t represent the threat that domestic violence extremism poses, but okay, Ron, get the awakened mob,” she said:
